Hello all,

The fabric of my car sets (light beige) is getting dirty. Anyone knows a way how can I clean it?

Thanks & regards,

Robert

Gentle scrub with hand brush with warm water and washing up liquid then towel dry. Just done a heavy encrusted with grease, transit seat and came up a treat. May have to sit on a towel for a few k....Glyn

As has been said, human grease comes away best of all with warm water, but I use liquid washing machine soap.

Yeah wee brush hot water and fairy/ star drops or some all purpose cleaner , scrub and dry off , but just try not to really soak seat , a hair dryer helps with drying ( obv ):p

Try Halfords Upholstery Cleaner as recommended by Auto Express, its in a Green plastic bottle. I used on my C220 and am very happy with the results. Perhaps the only downside is that you do end up with rather a lot of foam. When it has dried out it leaves a nice clean appearance to the upholstery. :)

I tried this on a lorry seat which hadn't been cleaned for years and was full of thick, black shiny grease. With a lot of hard scrubbing, the seat came up like new.

You may not have the nerve for it but, I take the seats out of my Vito and jetwash them. I only do it every couple of years and, on a nice sunny day. The results are very good.

I have alpaca grey interior. Very light grey almost white

I clean it each summer. It's cloth/artico

Tools;
Vax carpet cleaner with upholstery attachment with clear warm water
Bar of soap
Bowl of warm water
White microfibre cloth
Nail brush

Wet the seats
Rub the bar of soap over the seats
Scrub with nail brush/microfibre cloth

Suck up soapy stuff with Vax and use spray on attachment to wet and rinse etc

Once soap residue/water sucked/gone, leave to dry in the sun

Will look new and new car smell returns if using non fragrance soap. I like imperial leather

Looking at giving my seats a good scrub some time soon. Just a question though and it's probably a stupid one but when you say a 'brush'... what kind of brush? Like a small nail brush or something you'd use to polish a shoe?

On the w203 we just bought the seats were very dirty.
I used a Bissell upholstery cleaner and they came up a treat. We wrre amazed as the upholstery is cream fabric but they were brown when we started.
To dry it all out we used a small fan heater in the car overnight.

On my Jeep with velour I have also removed the seats and pressure washed thrm after a damp with strong washup liquid/water mix. Dried them indoors overnight. Perfect results.

We also have a Panda (the car, not the animal) that has been given the same treatment.

Not too worried about those, but I'm too chicken to try this on an MB.

With cloth/tex I feel that the dirt can go right through into the foam. I could clean my 124 seats and in no time the dirt came back again, perhaps washing really well so that the foam is cleaned could help as umblecumbuz does.
