Hi all
Ok Vehicle been running great after last issues (fuel pump/ etc) i managed to change all glow plugs with no real problems, however now the weather temperature here is pretty damn cold the glow plug light stays on until the temperature picks up to 60-80 degrees, is this normal on these?, i am under the impression the glow plugs do not play a big part in these engines, but only for emissions, am i correct?

On mine , CLS, the light came back on 30s after the car was started when one of plugs was faulty. When the module gave up the ghost the car took longer to start from cold but there was no indication displayed on the dash.

Plugs can be checked in situ with a multimeter , the module was a sealed unit therefore un-checkable on the W219.

well removed the Glow plug relay and followed the instructions, carefully removed the silicone seal from around the outside, then separated the top cover from the bottom, found one link burnt out, so soldered a new piece in and re sealed unit and hey presto all working again, Thank you all again for your advice :)
