Hi All,

Can anyone please tell me with the aid of a coil spring compressor tool how long it would take (approx) to install a new spring....... what does the job involve in terms of what needs to be removed ? and the best way to install this.

Many Thanks :D

You do need a MB spring compressor and very dangerous to do with out. With the correct tool it is quick to do

Hi Malcolm,

With the compressors in place....... can I get away with not removing the hub and caliper in order to place or remove the spring?

Thanks

As far as I know you just compress them, and take them out, the hubs and brakes do not have to be touched, also unlike other cars the shock absorber also stays in place.

If I am wrong,,someone will soon say

you will need to remove the shock absorber ideally, this is the main thing when car is in the air that stops the spring pushing out.
we have the spring compressor tool. but i find it far quicker/easier~(more dangerous) without it.
remove the bottom ball joint, hub/caliper complete will swing out the way.
compress the spring, remove roll bar link, remove bottom shock bolt, wishbone will then swing down giving enough room to remove spring.
refit in reverse order,

hope this helps
