Twice now in the past week my 320CLK alarm has triggered. Last night it was 3am, and the wife was none too pleased !!!

Anyone help with a possible cause ??

The only thing I've changed recently is the blower regulator, and due to a degree of water ingress, I still haven't replaced the front carpet trim...although I'm struggling to see any connection with that.

Seems a bit strange how the lights continue to flash after the alarm has triggered..surely this will eventually flatten the battery ?? or do they eventually stop on their own ? Would the triggering of the alarm be recorded on the on-board diagonostics, and so the fault could be traced this way?

Any help/advice greatfully recieved..

Make sure the door contact switches are working and ther interior is free of cobwebs/hanging thingies.

Other than that a Star (MB diagnostic machine) can tell you what las triggered the alarm. The last trigger is usually the cause of the problem.

Also... the alarm siren can fill with water and cause it to go off all the time.

Any pointers on where would I find these door contact switches, and the siren itself ???

Also, do the indicators just keep on flashing after the alarm has triggered, or do they stop eventually ??

The contact switches are on the pillar where the door catch is situated.

I think the siren is near the front left wheel. I can't remember exactly where. Can someone else help.

Hi Malcolm,

Can you possible explain the above in slighty more 'simple' terms ??
Such as, what exactly are the IRS sensors, where are they located, and do you have any idea how much they cost andas to if they are easy to replace.

Thanks.

they are in the top of the B pillar in the triangle housings.

IRS = Infra red sensors, they must be very easy to fit

Before you go to fit these sensors I would get a star plugged into it to actually see waht is causing the alarm activation.

Never easy these things, in the workshop manual, it says if the alarm goes off after being parked for several hours replace sensors with the modified type
