morning all,

Just about to tackle changing fuel pressure regulator. Was just wondering about things to be wary of? I know the fuel rail has massive pressure inside it. Is this pressure while it’s running or all the time? Do I need to relieve pressure before removing valve from back of rail?

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

Let the engine sit for a couple of hours to let the engine and fuel cool off before you do it. Wrap a clean rag around one of the joints on the fuel rail to the steel fuel delivery pipe and crack it. Tighten it back up immediately because you'll forget to do it up later. Keep your hands well out of the way just in case there is still pressure in the rail. Even if there is full pressure, there should only be a very small amount of fuel spillage and the rag will catch it. When you take the regulator off the rail may well empty itself. It's a long time since I did that job and I had the rail already empty and on the bench. Just be prepared to catch about an egg cupful with a rag.

Thanks for the advice. The engine hadn’t been started for a day or so, so it was fine. Was a little fuel in rail but as you said caught it in a rag. All done and running fine now thanks
