Clock and central display issue

Hello
I have an E270 CDI that has been probably the best car I have ever owned. But yesterday morning when I started it, I noticed the clock had stopped (It would not reset) and the central information display was almost unreadable - it was almost opaque. I then turned the engine off, waited a short time, and restarted it. The display was back to its normal state for a short time before getting unreadable again.

Does anyone have any ideas?

If the cars been standing a long while and the batteries have gone flat it can cause this problem,
make sure the batteries are fully charged and the cars been dried out if it got damp.
But...............
It's not an uncommon problem on those dashboards they do go faulty, remove it and check the connectors clean.
