Hello everybody,

Am a newbie on this forum and i want to thank you guys in advance for taking your opportuned time to read my post. I have got series of questions regarding the CLS500. I have never driven a

mercedes car before and i want to switch to this brand. I' m pretty much acquainted with the audi brand. The last of my Audi was the 2006 A8 4.2 V8 335 BHP. This car is a luxury car but can

quick become a monster when the extra power is needed. The only mercedes car that turns my head is the CLS, hence my reason for wanting to purchase it because of it's coupé shape like form.

There are two cars in my head and i don't know the one to choose. The Audi A8 W12 6.0 litre engine(exactly the same engine found in the continental Bentley) and the CLS500. But since my wife

wants to experience other car brands, i decided to leave the CLS500 as an option. Do you guys think the CLS will put a smile on my face compared to the W12? It's obvious that the CLS has got no

much leg room in the back seat but my twins are just 2 years old so it's not a problem. I ' m looking at the CLS500 because i wanted an extra power compared to my previous 4.2 V8. I quickly

realised that the BHP output of the audi 4.2 was higher than the CLS500. The audi is only 4.2 litre and is giving 335 BHP while the CLS is 5.0 litre and it's output is only 302 BHP. Am a little

worried regarding this difference. Does it mean the audi will be faster in the longer run? Secondly, i have also heard that the CLS500 had issues when it first came out and the following year the

model CLS55O was introduced to replace the CLS500 which is no longer in production. I do not have enough means to justify the CLS55 AMG because i have got to put away extra cash for the

servicing costs. On Autotrader, there are loads of CLS500 and only about 4 CLS550. Does it mean the CLS500 is more on the market than the CLS550? What is the difference between CLS550 and

CLS55 AMG?

What options should i be on the look out for? Are there any known issues with the CLS500? Is there bluetooth connection? How good is the sound system? I used to have the "Bose" on the A8 and

it was mind blowing and for the fact that i love music, it was an extra credit to the car. I don't know about "Harmon Kardon" sound system. How good is it? Lastly am looking at 05/06 reg, so any

relevant information regarding the 2006 CLS500 will be appreciated.:)

Yes the 2005/2006 CLS500 only has 306bhp, but if you go for 2007 or newer, then the CLS500 develops 388bhp.

CLS500 comes with a 7G tronic gearbox, where I dont think the Audi does!

I took a look on the Whatcar website, they say that there were very few complaints on the CLS (2005-2010), but there was a recall on the 2005, because the brake pedal needed more effort than expected, all were recalled and the problem didn't occur since!

The CLS550 has not ever been retailed from Mercedes-Benz UK. It exists in the US and Germany, but not the UK.

The Harman Kardon Audio is fantastic! I would completely reccomend it, it has 450 watts where your Audi Bose Audio only has 330 watts (I think). So the Mercedes Harman Audio is more powerful.

To be honest all the CLS models are fantastic, buy with confidence because its definitely a fantastic, beautiful looking car!

When you a cls550 do you actually mean a cls 55 amg.

As there is actually no difference in performance between the cls500 and the cls550. They were only badged up as a 550 for the us market as the engine had a 5.5 engine in it and it has to be badged up with what it has in for the american market.

I have got a table with all the power from the different engine below

Hope this helps
