Tyres taken off my 2017 C class 200 Sport (Petrol) by MB Teesside last month. Tyres manufactured 2017.

Arrived with 7mm tread, (New tyre on a spare rim to confirm). All 4 tyres measuring 6.75mm or more, even wear across the tread. No repairs/bulges, 1500 gentle miles.

Looking for £200 for the set of four, or will split (2+2).

Buyer to collect, or arrange collection from Whitby, North Yorkshire.

    Reasonable offers considered.

Assume JBell lives in Torquay, not Torquey, as he claims. Such a plonker. Need say no more, tyres destined for ebay, such a shame, thought a fellow Merc owner could buy a pristine set of tyres at a great discount over new.

    You live and learn!

    Oh dear.
    It's an obvious pun...

You won't sell a set of tyres on MB forums in 5 minutes, you know. Can take weeks.
225/50 is not a popular size, either.

    Dear 0m63

Thanks for the advice. 225/50 R17 W may not be a popular size for MB, but seem to fit a number of other makes/models. Alternatively they can be ground up to make play mats or rubber chips for childrens play areas. Not bothered either way to be honest, just seems a shame to scrap the tyres when they may be of value to a club member.

Suspect the `recycle' as rubber chips is the way to go. Life is simply too short to worry about tyres.

    Will move on.

Could be interested, but wondering why they were taken off at such a low mileage. (I need 2 for a similar car)

Tyres are fine for North Yorkshire roads, (Council is brilliant at putting down salt when needed) but for my sins I purchased a house at the top of a 100metre private drive, (mine) with a gradient of 1 in 3. Obviously my local Council don't salt private drives, so I need winter tyres even when there is only a little frost, never mind snow.

Historically I have always run winter tyres, on separate rims, from November to March due to frequent business trips to Scotland over the years, so now just run Conti Winter Contact all year round as I only cover about 3000 miles a year in the Merc now I am retired. MB love to do a deal with me with a 3 year old car with such a low mileage!

Anything else you want to know?

What did we do before winter tyres, my first car never had anything apart from standard tyres back in the 60s and drove back and forwards to Forres in Scotland across Dava Moor feet deep in snow with no problem except needing extra care, never getting stuck. Those were the days!

Been there, no probs in the olden days. Before winters we had narrow tyres - great in snow. Modern cars have much wider tyres which are no better than skis. Tyres also came with tread blocks - not any more.

Taking up too much space in my shed, so on the way to my local (Whitby) recycling centre Tuesday 2nd Jan unless anyone wants a bargain.

    Thanks.

No!! You're the plonker to scrap them.

Wait a while or put on ebay. Or put them outside?
'd have had them if they were 225/45.

Not a plonker, just can't deal with time wasters. The money is not important, but I do not see why someone should get something for nothing when I worked hard for my money. Ebay is full of cowboys, don't want, or need to go there.

    Playmats they shall be.

    Tyres withdrawn.

    Thanks for everyones silly comments.

Good to know the kids will get some benefit out of them.
Not surprised there were no takers here despite your smooth charm.

    Does that include your own?

I sold some tyres a while back and it took nearly a month. You require patience when selling something second hand (even if they have still got a lot of tread).

You might want to stop getting all uppity at people on Internet forums. Won’t do you any favours trying to sell something. Regardless of how important or not the money is to you.

    Have a happy 2018. :)

Thanks for the advice from everyone.

C350Carl. Not getting uppity, and a sale is not important. If anyone wanted them, I would have had takers by now.

Shame to bin them, but not the end of the world. At least I won't have to deal with the chancers on ebay.

Happy with my Conti winters - at least importing them from Germany saved me £300 compared to MB quotes.

    Thanks for your interest.

The thing about forums is that many people may only check in once a week, once a month or only if they have an issue. There was member querying the health of another member who had passed away in August and he hadn't been aware. Not everyone logs in everyday.
As Carl intimated it takes time to allow people to see an advert, even more so if you're out of the way and have a less than common tyre size.

I understand what you are saying LostKiwi, but life is too short. Not going to clog up my shed with tyres no-one wants. My shed is more important!

As I suggested, take them out of the shed and leave them outside, for the few weeks needed to find them a new owner?
