Afternoon all.

Had the 209 for a few months and now that summer is here (stop laughing) I would love to utilise the convenience full closure. Alas it's not working. I've tried pointing the key at the receiver on the door handle and pressing both buttons, I've tried putting the key in the ignition and pressing a button within 4 seconds., I've tried various pushes on the buttons i.e. lock then press and hold lock and the same with unlock. The key is the chrome type with 3 buttons and the CLK is the 200 Sport version with all the electrical whistles and bells. Short of taking it to the stealers and getting it on Star or WIS, I'm scratching my head wondering if I've forgotten something obvious.

I've never tried it John. I never felt the need before today seeing as its glorious sunshine here. To think I spent 5 years at the local MB dealers setting up keys for customers and I've gone completely brain dead since.

Couple of possibilities come to mind...change the batteries (no pound shop rubbish),
Or...does it actually have this feature?

presumably this is the 'global opening/closing' ive had on my previous MB saloons. usually its press the lock (or unlock, whichever way you are needing to go) button and hold it pressed. the locks will lock (or unlock) then keep the button held, after about 3 seconds, everything should start to close (or open) and the button on the key must be held down the entire time the opening/closing is being done. it was great for closing windows on the 210/203. ive never had a convertible so no idea how hard it is on the key batteries!

i could be wrong, but wasnt this feature standard from about 1998 onwards? possibly even before??

I had this feature on my 209 but just before I p/exd it for the current car, it ceased to work and I was told they can get a bit flakey after time. It required a new sensor in the door handle, but I obviously didn't bother as it was only a couple of weeks until the new car arrived.
Could be this same sensor on your car.

I had a W reg CLK coupe and if it had this I was unaware, ditto on a 15 reg SLK.

Have you RTFM?

RTFM from the front to the back and even the online PDF to make sure I hadn't missed anything or any updates. Sure it was standard feature and there is no datacard code for it. Could be the door handle sensor but tbh, if that was playing up then surely the lock/unlock signal would be hit and miss too. I'll probably just have a run down my local MB Tuesday
