I had my system done just last weekend. I love the sound but it seems is much nicer outside the cabin. Inside still getting a bit of buzz/drone while pulling away from the traffic lights ( outside of the car it rumble nicely thou)
Went through some reading on US forums and came across few treads mentioning "j pipe". It looks like this

Apparently it eliminates drone issue from the cabin totally and it leaves all the good stuff from a v8 sound
Will attempt this for sure. As the fitting garage left me a window open for extra silencers I'll ask for these instead.
Any of you guys heard of these?

My SL with the same engine was the same. I had the car for 6 years, then sold it. The new owner removed the main CATs and a straight through pipe fitted. I bought the car back and the first thing that I noticed was that the car was buzzy, I could feel the engine through the car, it was not the lovely smooth car anymore, sure it sounded nice.

With help from member here I had an X pipe fitted. This put the car back to normal, all the buzzing was gone, but the sound was wonderful.

It really did work wonders, the car was not as sweet as it was, sure it was out of my hands for 3 years, but you never forget how it was originally.

I would not do it my CL.

What, the straight pipe or the X pipe?

Hmmm
Maybe in a place of middle silencer a silencer with x pipe within will get rid of buzz. Magnaflow does x pipes within silencers

You don't need a silencer, that engine setup is so quiet as it is!

This just has to be welded in as close to the down pipes as possible, it cost me £250.

What would you suggest as a best approach?
I have middle silencer with straight pipes to the tips
Outside the car sounds awesome but inside the cabin bit of buzz and I want to hear the burble :-(

The J pipe removes drone by changing the resonant frequency of the exhaust. If you remember wave theory from school physics the pipe needs to be tuned to be out of phase with the frequency of the drone so what will work with one car may not work with another.
Do you currently have a balance tube on the car? If so an X-Pipe may not make any difference as they are two different ways of accomplishing similar things.

So looking at that the centre box is sort of performing the same function as an x-pipe. If thats been removed and replaced with two separate silencers then an x-pipe will probably help.

There you go then, it's that custom centre box/ plenum chamber. The X-pipe setup is tuned to meet your car's warp/impulse manifold threshold pressure variations, which is a complicated way <;)> of saying that it makes a nice noise without removing power :D

Ah.... I just love the old "If you can't dazzle them with science baffle 'em with bullsh1t" :)

Is the centre box 2 in 2 out in a single enclosure? It may be there is too much resistance to mixing of the left and right pipes hence it behave more like 2 single boxes. You've nothing to lose from an x-pipe (other than a few quid). It can also improve torque and horsepower. The only thing I would caution is to make sure the conjoined area is as long as possible (up to about 10").
The ones which look to be made by just crossing the left and right pipes won't have the desired effect.

You'd be astonished how many people are taken in by that.

Whip a few turns off the secondary and increase the flux density while you're at it! (Cost reduction in electrical transformers as it happens ;) )
