E350 AMG Cabriolet
I have a 2013 E350 AMG Cabriolet. We have an intermittent fault that the garage apparently have never heard it or know how to fix. This is what happens....we stop in traffic and when we brake the ECO mode cuts the engine off as it should, as we release our foot off of the brake the engine starts up again as it should, but then as we go to pull away the car stalls and literally turns itself off and puts itself into neutral. To get it to start we have to turn the key off and then restart the car. One day it did it 5 times, we took it back to the garage where we brought it only a couple of months ago and they test drove it. They could’ve even get the ECO mode to come on though so they assumed it was the main car battery getting too low and changed it. But three weeks later it’s cutting out again, the ECO mode is working as it should though. Anyone come across this?

Have you had the ECU read using Star?

The garage have said “no faults recorded in the on-board fault memory” - is that the same thing?

That depends on what was used to read it.
Not all code readers will read all codes. The only way to guarantee codes present are read is to use Star (MBs own dealer level code reader/diagnostic tool).

It was an approved Mercedes car sales and repairs garage.

Seems strange there were no error codes.

Yes very strange, what’s also strange is they mention changing the main battery, that’s not the one which charges the eco stop start, it’s the utility battery....
