Hello All .
I have a 2014 E350 cabriolet W207 . It has a great sound system installed from the factory, with 360 degree speaker system. Everything is fine but the DAB is crap. Only works now and then , you scan for stations and get loads then next time there are none.
I think it is either a loose connection to the antenna or loose connection to the tuner.
I just don't know where either the antenna or tuner are. Is the antenna in the screen or is it the stubby thing on the boot lid?
FM works fine, just probs with DAB.
Thanks for any help....

There are lots of posts on this issue over both forums.

There are both software and hardware updates to help with this issue.

First port of call is to a dealership or Mercedes specialist to check if needed.

The GPS aerial on mine is under the sharks fin.

My current car is excellent but my last car a 2014 E300 was pretty dismal.

I have the same issue on my E Coupe- read loads on it, hear and elsewhere, I’ve not seen any great outcome or solution after the mods recommended so far....
I’ve learned to live with fm and frankly don’t miss dab...

Well thanks,
I have seen on other forums that this is an ongoing problem.
I have loaded up my hard drive with about 60 albums and also have a fully loaded 120gb ipod plugged into the usb port in the cubby hole. So don't really need it, but it's anoying it is there and not working though.

Well thanks for that. Looks like I have a mission on my hands.
My dab was good when I first got my car, but I did notice that sometimes when I went over a bump, the signal would drop out.
So I thought it must be a dodgy connection somewhere.
If it was a software problem of wrong antenna, then you would have thought you would never have a signal. If its great at times, then it must be working fine. I think I must have a bad connection somewhere or the coax is failing along the line, or there is a dry joint inside the dab unit. I will find it in the summer and take it out and check for dry joints if I find no faults in the antenna.

One should considering external factors in ones unsuccessful attempts for signal perfection. Unfortunately it will always be somewhat hampered - in my experience - by the incessant tampering by techs at the broadcasting stations.

They play like little children, fiddling with stuff they don't actually understand - seemingly in a hit and miss manner to try and improve things by tweaking beam patterns and signal strength in fruitless attempts to cure geographical obstacles that aren't going anywhere, work around some investment bank's latest monstrosity ruining the once beautiful skyline and 27 different phone companies dumping 4g cells randomly in every street of local housing estates to give people cancer.

None of which really helps, when a DAB signal starts life broadcast at a 1/4 of the strength and 1/3 of the bandwidth it was designed to be, and some protest group have never allowed the one Ariel mast to be sited in the very place that would completely resolve an issue that been there for 50 years.

I’m feeling smug, drove home last night with my DAB radio on and ILS, all working perfectly and this was North Norfolk which is not known for the strength of any signals be it radio or mobile phone.

When technology works it’s great when it does not its teeth gnashing time.

Well so am I, so there! lol
I drove to work and all the way home again in the evening and listened to my DAB on both trips and my DAB was faultless.
The thing is, I have done nothing to it to fix it. It has not worked at all for a whole month.
Probably wont work tomorrow.
That is why I think the problem is a bad connection somewhere.
Will sort it out in the summer, next year.

My dab worked all day today too.
Perhaps I had some Elves fix it in the night?

Before you cry, first thing to do is remove anything plugged into cigarette lighters. If you have a hardwired dashcam, you are going to have to un-wire it.
Most of the DAB issues we see whilst fitting DAB are cheapo USB converters that output massive RF interference.

Then, for cars with NTG4.5 there is a software update for the DAB module, which stops it rebooting when it sees >100 stations (london and south west of london) - if this is the fault, you will see Device Unavailable appear on the radio screen when DAB is selected.

Then there are replacement antenna amplifiers

And then finally, some cars with the COMMs module get DAB inteference from that module at a repeatable
