Hey Guys,

Wanted to find out after remap whats the next step in getting more power out of a diesel engine?

Detailed advice would be helpful!

After a remap what would be the next step to gain more power?

I am guessing a turbo upgrade?

Anyone with technical knowledge feel free to step in! :D

a strait swap of the cartridge in the turbo will make quite a good difference but to really take advantage if the extra O2 available you would want to remove the Cats and then have it remapped.

It depends how far you want to go, have you already had it mapped? If not I'd take it somewhere that'll do a proper job, ideally with a rolling road, who knows Mercedes and who knows diesels.

The problem we have is beyond a remap, not many places do much with them, if you've got VAG diesel then you're well looked after. Turbo upgrades are a good starter, whilst having the nozzles on your injectors upgraded to flow more may be enough for you.

Good thing diesels are simple creatures, stuff lots of air and fuel in, keep it cool and adjust till the smoking reaches an acceptable level

I have already had a wonderful map from MSL who were extremely professional! So would injectors alone give you a boost in power? I am guessing after injectors it would need further mapping.

Id had thought any change of the CHRA will result in a overboost situation and go into limp mode.

A remap id have thought would have to be carried out to adjust AFR's i may of course be totally wrong.

Any change to either the injectors or turbo will really need a remap as well to get the most out of it, most good tuning companies including Acid would automatically suggest it.

You could go incremental with your upgrades, changing parts when they're near their limits, but that'll cost you a hefty amount in mapping sessions, or you could go straight for the whole hog and have it assembled and tuned at the same time, that's probably a lot more to lay out straight away and you're almost sure to run into snags along the way but you'll end up with a right beast.

The thing with diesels is, you can easily find yourself spending AMG money on them
