we have two boosters in the main domestic aerial, and still only get about half the interesting channels, although they do reappear when the leaves shed from the trees in the street.
The tv card for my laptop is minute, the aerial is a little metal twig about 4 feet and another wall further indoors from the main aerial, and the picture on nearly every channel is almost perfect, whatever the weather. Confuses the heck out of me.......

Blobcat and Malcolm understand these things.
Lots of planned work meaning reduced power and poorer received signal. Even without DSO in an area DSO works are still taking place 3-4 years ahead of DSO due to changing the antenna's.

The thing to do is to watch at the bottom left on the screen where you can see the numbers that you have entered

well we are totally digital up here and what utter rubbish it is! ive re-tuned my digibox numerous times since the switch and its still no good. cant get bbc, only bbc scotland, if i get anything, picture freezes and pixelates when theres any breeze around, its terrible! i thought they were going to BOOST the signal strength when we changed, not weaken it! i had bbc england before and the interference etc on windy days etc was nowhere near as bad! bring back the analogue signal. at least it worked!
If and I suspect you are getting your signal from Caldbeck then you have a new mast, new antenna and new transmitters. I know you are fully DSO'd however I don't know if you are still having works going on and therefore reduced power, I doubt that and would suspect that your antenna system may require a bit of work/replacement.
Next time I'm further "Oop North" I will be connecting up the kitchen TV to an antenna for my parents as that cannot get a digital signal and they can see Caldbeck Mast out of the window.

It takes a fare distance from the mast before the signal gets to ground level I had the same situation in Herts, with the booster relay in my garden (literally) I got nothing from it,,We have the same situation with Stockland Hill down here, those living near it get nothing, UHF signals go in a dead straight line

correct, i am on the caldbeck transmitter, yet my digital signal was much better before the switchover, and i got the right channels in the right places. now i have to search to 800 odd to find bbc1 & 2, and they work! bbc1 & 2 scotland, which goes to 1 and 2 everytime i re scan, just show blank screens! i also checked and theres no updates available, and re scanned it as a 1st time installation so it erased all previous channels (twice!!) and still no different!

analogue signal was switched off at the end of june for bbc, and end of july for the other channels, but its been going downhill since the first switch off happened. second was when the real disasters happened. seems we are among the first (for once) to get something. no wonder, if this is as good as it gets!

As before some boxes cannot cope with the new format, and this comes to light mainly in Phase 2 of the change over

With all these extra channels, there is always very little to watch (unless it is another repeat). I witnessed this when Sky started transmitting and there is no Cable in my area (and that is the same). Gone are the days of decent programs on the TV, now its all brain dead shows (BB, X Factor, etc) that are cheap to produce and gullible people phone in to pay for the program and extra profits on top.

I've got a brand new aerial, low loss co-ax with no joins through to my video and patch lead to my LCD TV. When some vehicles pass my property the screen goes blotchy. Never had any problems at all with the analogue signal.

The most awkward thing for some is that Mendips transmits high up the band (54 to 64) with Channel 5 on the old video/computer modulator frequency (37). I also pick up other channels (or relay stations due to the lack of hills between aerial and transmitter).

Having had two weeks of daytime TV (damn Pig Flu hitting me for six), I can't wait to get outside or back to the office. I feel sorry for those that have to put up with it every day
