Good evening all on a fine beaut Saturday evening...

OK for my fathers W245 (pre-facelift) he is getting the jumping locks syndrome again! usually this only happens during cold winter days but its like 24oC outside and its messing up.

Can anyone please advice me the part number of the locking system so we can replace it or is anyone in my area (West London) Heathrow side is able to fix it? I know its a small little spring that seized up but if anyone can help me either way would be great!

Thanks

Sunny

Not north London but if your not doing it yourself then Wayne Gates in Harrow would get my vote for doing the work, it not a hard fix but iirc the door card clips often break in the process of removing

Temperature plays no part. Its a broken spring inside the lock. You can buy repair kits on eBay, I have had mixed success with it. You need to remove the lock and strip it apart, replace the spring and reassemble.

I found it to be such a faff that I would rather replace a new lock than fiddle about for an hour and a half working with micro springs.

Ah all good points here... I think I will take it to a specialist garage like Wayne Gates to get it fixed
