when a DSG box is set to park, does it pin the transmission in the same way that the torque converter boxes do,

Why would manual gearbox use a park pawl?

Didn't realise DSG was a manual, weirdly the gear stick only has P, R, N, D, S in a line so that would make it very difficult to shift in an H pattern

On the face of it, a DSG is an auto, but underneath, it's a manual with auto controls. They generally have flappy paddles to give manual changes.
