I've recently bought a 2012 Mercedes E-Class 250, i'm just wondering if this supports Bluetooth audio playback? I've looked on the manual online and it seems to suggest it will. I've connected the phone so the calls work but i can't find the Bluetooth audio option?

I’m not sure which audio system you have but on mine it’s under media, select media then look for Bluetooth and select this.

I have Command Online NTG 5.2

Do you have the Comand online system fitted to your car. Audio/Nav system? It was an option in 2012.

I don't believe so, that is what the display looks like, but think its just the basic version?

That to me is one of the mysteries in life how to tell whivpch version.

When I stream audio from my iPhone this is how I do it.

1. Start playing music on my phone.
2. Select media then select again this will bring up the options for various modes.
3. Turn scroll wheel until Bluetooth appears and select.

There will be others on here with better knowledge than me.

My car is a 2016 E350.

holding the owners manual with you in the car, you can match up what you see fitted in the vehicle you are interacting with and the appropriate words on how it works...

that way you don't get a random person off the internet (who may be out to mislead) giving their interpretation of the unit they have experience of (which may be totally different to what you have). The manual will describe correctly the exact functionality and how to get it to do what its supposed to

if you don't have a manual download and print the bits you need... and "never buy a car without a manual", if they couldn't be bothered to look after that then goodness knows how the car was looked after, and or it was a rental !!!

some cars of that era can have a software update to enable music playback by Bluetooth.... if it has a knob to control the entertainment system on the centre console it should have comand, (the other bit would be sat nav without a silly unit in the glovebox)

Hi,

thanks for the reply. I have the manual and i also downloaded a newer manual from the Mercedes website. The way it says to do it on the system doesn't work. (It doesn't display Bluetooth media as an option) so i'm guessing it would need an update!

I have the knob to control the media system and it has a full sat nav without the bit in the glove box.

Is it an option in the engineering menu, and if so, is it activated? If it doesn't show up there, then it would be an update as a minimum. You most likely have NTG4 which is very different to the NTG 5.2 system referenced above.

To enter engineering menus
Hold the following 3 buttons down for about 10 seconds: Phone-Hangup, 1, #. If that doesn't work (because you've changed the region settings in engineering mode for instance), then use Phone-Pickup, 1 and # Please be careful, you can destroy your COMAND. Most menus are multi-page, the next page being selected by moving rotary controller toward the back of the car. After you have changed settings you will need to reset the unit, the option to do this is on the 2nd page of the 1st menu shown after entering engineering mode. In the 1st menu you see after entering engineering mode, you can also then hold down Hang-up, 4 and # for a few seconds to find some additional menus. Again, be very very careful.

Managed to get on engineering menu no problem.

I can see Bluetooth options but only thing not ticked is BT visible? Is this the option for media? Didn’t want to fiddle in case it wasn’t the right thing!

I see in the menu there is an option for software update but needs a disc, can these be bought?

I’m based in Felixstowe Suffolk.
