Welcome to the forum.

The E350 diesel is a lovely V6 engine, lots of grunt and pretty good mpg.

In my opinion well worth sourcing one, I cannot think of any issues of particular concern, that said my knowledge extends to opening the bonnet to check fluids and clean it.

Welcome and nice choice of car!

The 350cdi is the pick of the bunch in my opinion.

As regards advice well specced examples do come up for sale so a degree of patience may be required in my case it took 3 months of trawling the ads to find the right car but well worth the effort

Good luck in your search and the new reg just coming in should help the choice out there

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Hello

The map sensor unit is over £300 compared to a average price of £45

So make sure you have good warranty.

Nice engine though :0)

Wait it out for the 350 - it is the E class sweet spot....

The only reason to not go 350 is you don't want diesel ..other than that it's a super engine ...

Find yourself a good indy in the area and you will be happy for a long time, just make sure you get the right car for you,

I'm also looking for a E350 estate at the moment but I don't have anything in my price range at the moment.

Ha ha ha!!!!! I admire your optimism! Still on the E class you avoid some horrendous expense risks- just ask John!!

By the way just to add to the above. The V6 is indeed the sweet spot. Remapped you will end up with a road weapon, 750Nm is quite possible... AMG Line gives you much nicer bumpers too.

If you can, go for the facelifted version with full LED adaptive headlamps. They are truly superb and still in the top 3 lighting systems on the market today. Totally transforms night driving.

Having lived with both, found there were no real positives in real life of the 350 over the 250. Yes it it smoother, but not really that much quicker in real life and a lot less economical.

If it was a diesel I'd get the 250, otherwise if economy wasn't a consideration a petrol version.

Unless you're dead set on a diesel you could consider an E400. I ran a
C350CDi before the E400 and in terms of economy there's very little in it.

The E400 coupe is a nice car.

I've just bought a E Class S212 Sport estate, AMG pack, full leather, and had it remapped.
It's now approaching 250bhp and 400nm torque. But still gives upwards of 45mpg day to day driving and 50 on a long run.
Tried a 350 before settling on this one and couldn't live with the fuel economy although the engine was quieter bit no smoother. But when your inside, you can't hear either anyway.

Don't want another convertible and if I go for a 400 the tax starts to rise again , I like the panoramic roof and the amg sport plus package which comes with the red seat belts and red stitching which breaks up all that black Budget wise don't really want to go further than 25 k really. It's not going to be used much the odd evening and weekend to be fair as I have a works vehicle for day to day .

Given the choice and no requirement for an estate I would take the 400 every time.
