Just acquired an e230 merc. It has two problems.

1. Just last week it developed a problem with the brakes. Basically when you press the break pedal it sounds as though the abs pump has kicked in - in normal driving/braking conditions. Also there is NO judder on the pedal. It is a sensor, fuse or relay that needs to be changed or something else? There are no warning lights on the dash....

2. On rare occassions the engine power dies and all the warning lights 'light up' on the dashboard. This only happens momentarily - but quite frightening when in the otside lane of the motorway!!!

Any advice welcomed.

Shaz.

Very hard to say on the brakes,, servo problem possible.

The power going and dash lighting sounds like a faulty ignition switch
