Exactly!!!!

That question made me smile ... many years ago there was a meeting of a global giant. One VP and 6 European MDs.
They were being err difficult abbout putting in this £4M system we were sellling.
The VP was furious and at one stage in desperation he posed an open question.
"What the f**k do you think we make ?"
No answer so he went from one to the other, most named their product line.
In the end he apologised to me and said "listen if not one single freaking MD can answer that, then Christ we really are in trouble".
I guess in desperation he looked at me, and said well he is not an MD and looks like he is under 30; so I might as well take a punt and ask him".
I said "Money!" and he said "exactly ... draw the contract up" and stormed off!

We were there for a few days more, and on the last day; the french MDs secreatary came up to me, and saud Mr X has organised your tour if Nice, his helicopter will give you an ariel tour on the way back to the airport.

Yes it was very flash, snd interesting seeing all the ultra expensive villas and pools pretty close up, but to be honest I really didnt like it, as this thing seemed to surge!
Just felt the engine would die any moment. Despite being brand new. :-/

Don't sweat it. Helicopter crashes are usually way more survivable than aeroplanes.

Unless it's a Gazelle, Super Puma or Sea Knight...

1. To my knowledge John is not an administrator
2. Few folk on this forum are Arseholes, and John certainly isn't. You seemed to have picked one of the most helpful people on here to insult.
3. I am amazed at your intellect. There are only a few E63s on here to my knowledge, John having one. Forget your manners; but surely he would be one of the last people you would want to insult!
Helpful as he is I very much doubt he would help you in the future. And I wouldn't blame him.
In fact you were so unjustifiably rude, I doubt anyone here would ever help you again.
4. Maybe your attitude works against you on forums, and possibly I suspect in life too!
5. And no, I have never met John in person, but I have personally met 2 people on here, when I sold some items .. both were utterly charming.
6. OK I am new on here, but have been a member (for many years) of a Professional technical Photgraphy site, a Gun forum, and a high end audio forum. I can assure you if you conducted yourself like that on any of those .. an administrator would have instantly banned you. I guess they are more forgiving on here.

I wonder if any Ferrari parts go to the factory boxed in Fiat/Alfa/Lancia boxes??

There are several Alfa parts on Maserati cars so I would thing smaller items will find their way on to them

I think what is missing here is an empathy for what the AMG brand really stands for, they are a specialist company who prepare cars for race/track use. To buy the brand and not expect to pay a hefty premium for service parts considering that these vehicles may be used for track days at the Nurburgring and fairly high speed journeys on the autobahn would be naive

I suppose like all things that the marketing people get their hands on nowadays the AMG name has almost become accessorised and the true meaning lost

That was my surprise Pete, OK we all 'know' they're the same group but knowing they have factory tours and potential clients, if I was in the market for a Porsche I wouldnt want to think I was getting bits from a Passat in it!

I visited the VW Van factory in Hanover a few years ago and Mercedes Sprinters were coming off the same line.

True Malcolm, ' AMG Sport' and 'AMG Line', guess MB had to fight the Audi 'S-Line' and BMW 'M series' stuff, else they'd be left behind

The difference is that AMG Line cars get the styling but not the ////AMG badge...

Yes John, perhaps the OP should have spent some time on here before making the purchase no doubt he's not the first and certainly won't be the last to experience this - all those horses have to be stopped

Correct.

The Maf on the 4200 Ferrari engine is Alfa Romeo
Maserati @ £400.00
Alfa Romeo @ £70.00

Electronic actuator shift
Maserati (F1) gearbox selector unit @ £1800.00
Alfa Romeo @ £500.00

Well it can be expensive owning high performance cars but Mercedes are guilty of overpricing across the popular parts range as well.

Take the infamous E350 MAF sensors, they were available individually @ £120.00, then they made you buy the complete
assembly with 2 MAFS and turbo inlet pipe @ £400.00.

I still don't know why there's 2xMAFS on a single turbo inlet pipe, and they have identical part numbers. e350 maf.JPG
