E63 w211 temp spike

Just travelling for about 15 mins at 20-30 mph after motorway driving and oil temp spiked up to 114c from usual 100. Back to motorway speed and temp has settled down again . Never seen the temp spike up like that before.. anything to check ?

Quite normal in a high compression engine to have very hot oil if limited air flow is passing through the cooler.

Thanks Steve, yes i took it as within normal levels, just found previously that it wouldn't go over 103 in the same traffic conditions - 114 seems high. Anyway booked to visit MBS to get the proper once over and Star checks done. Will report back in the thread once i have some info.
