[ECU] Short circuit to positive -> What does it mean?

Hello experts,

I have sent my ECU to German for repair. When the ECU has been repaired and returned, I asked my Merc Specialist Mechanic to install the ECU.

But there is an error sounds like this:

"IFZ: Short circuit to positive"

What does it mean? Does it mean the ECU is still faulty and not fully repaired? Or is it something else?

Because of that error, the engine won't start, there is a response of the engine sound though, but the red and green LED on the rear mirror keep blinking. The car doesn't want to start.

For your info, my car is W202 C-class year 95.

Hope to get some advices and recommendation.

Many thanks in advance...your help is highly appreciated.

PS: I missed my car, almost 2 months not working.. :(

Why did you suspect the ECU of being faulty?

There are a lot of wires/connectors around/inside the box (based on my ML) housing the engine ECU / ESP ECU etc. Are these intact without wires broken or coming loose from the connectors. Has your mechanic re-installed the 5 connectors correctly, ie. not bent a pin?

If the ECU is reporting a fault, it means its alive, at least, but I think someone like Malcolm ('television') will be able to advise what an IFZ error is.

The more info you can give us, like the reason you sent the ECU away etc, the more chance someone on this forum might recognise the symptoms.

As far as I know the ECU is PMS type (pressure management system) for my car C200 year 95 (w202).

As far as i know, the connections are all good. Hope anyone here can help to figure out whether it is the ECU faults or something else.

Really need your help guys.

Thanks.
