does anyone know if it is handy to but a 2.8 into a c180 1995 model. my friend owns a 1.6 b.m.w and was able to get someone to fit a 2.5 engine into it. if it is prossable wot is needed i.e loom, ecu. ect ect. and how can it be done. has anyone done it be4?

Why go from 115 bhp to 150 BHP, if you want to make a difference put a W140 5.0 V8 in there with 320 BHP.

The only problem with a M119 (W140)engine is that it has to be pre 1991. This is because of the ecu and injector problem. In answer to your original question, yes it is possible but you would need the following :-

Engine
gearbox
Main loom
Ecu's (all of them)
Radiator
Kenco fans
Exhaust system
Read dif and half shafts
and finally, a healthy bank balance :grin:

Much cheaper to simply swap for a 280 surely? The 180's have a reputation for economy so easier to shift than a guzziling 280 (which in reality uses not much more fuel) so a used car dealer may give you a good deal to swap. I wouldn't be surprised if the brakes are uprated on the 280 too.
