My C 270 Estate took about as long as the others mentioned here. Annoying, but normal. The stat should give a 'static' readout once up to temperature. If it fluctuates, change it.
I ran mine with my radiator grill blanked off all year round. Most UK cars are grossly overcooled, and this helped with both temperature and economy.
What a great engine the 270 was. MB's best kept economy secret.
Mums was like that from new. Took about 26 miles to get to 85c ish.
Normal running to shops etc. She never even reached 80c
Made them change the thermostat under warranty, they didnt like that as they said it was quite expensive to do!, and it was much better got to 85 in about 7-10 slow town miles ...
Still nothing like 5.0L V8s that are fully hot , just under 90 C in 2 miles.
