Hi all,
I've replaced my old clock-spring/angle sensor with a second hand one which was tested and deemed working by the seller (has good ratings on EBay...)
I now have an ESP not working warning.
I've tried turning the steering wheel from full lock to lock a number of times but this has not helped.

Does anyone know what eels I can try??

Thanks!!

With Håkan as a name you must be from Sweden :D;)

If the secondhand one is not faulty, the average ESP control unit sit under the wheel, or nearby, could you have disturbed a connection. It does look to be a faulty clock spring, were the connections the same.

Part number is same?

Did you have ESP malfunction earlier (old sensor broken and diagnosed)? Sometimes these things need code reset.

The name is Turkish Cypriot. No idea how we share that name with the Swedes :D

The part numbers were subtly different and the clips had a different locking mechanism. Other than that the connections were fine and the same. I gave my car details to the seller and he informed me this was the correct one.

I didn't have an ESP problem before, just a fault ( Driver Airbag ignition squib 2 - R12/14 ignition resistance value wrong), this occurred after a rubbish mechanic changed my indicator stalk.

Took a trip to Waingates who were very helpful and advised I change the clock spring unit as the connectors could be suspect.

I now have this a new issue. What a pain!

In two pieces, but I did separate them ( quite carefully) when I was fitting.

Hi
1.Did you lock the steering in the straight position when you changed it?
2. What instructions/youtube were you following ?

I did it from memory. Its the fourth time ive done this - as the indicator had ongoing issues, so previously i followed haynes and some American youtube video.
I must admit that today I forgot to straighten up the wheels the first time around, and remembered just after removing the steering wheel - so put it all back again and lined it up. I didnt remove the clock spring at that stage - because the retaining screws arent accessible.

Whats your thinking?

Thanks

Hi
Try a reset by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Also press the brake pedal a few times to rule out the brake switch.

That's very handy info.
Pls could you explain a bit more?
Where are the clips and how do you line them up?

Also what is SAS?
Thanks.
