On SAS small gear will should show yellow tooth line in picture
Clock spring to be in centre position should aloud to make just over 2
full 360 turns both ways left and right
After you make sure they are in centre position joint together cerfully and put
the part as 1 to steering column and everything else
After putting everything together start the car do 3 times turns lock to lock
Turn it off take keys
Start car again and go for a short drive and this should fix
If not you part is faulty

That's very handy info.
Pls could you explain a bit more?
Where are the clips and how do you line them up?

Also what is SAS?
Thanks.

SAS short for steering angle sensor
Wires you plug them to airbag you will see plugs will have colors
same with the clips

Your car should be manual and don't have break switch
If you don't understand anything just ask

Thanks JJ, really appreciate the help.

I've taken off the Battery and will re-fit again the parts again.
I have to pop out with the kids and will be back around 4. I will try it then.

Looking at the old one, I didn't see any yellow teeth...
Also, is it safe to turn it?
Thanks!!

I made video how to set the unit in centre with my old unit
You have to be cerfull when u turn them specially with clock spring
When u remove unit from ur car make sure u don't put key in ignition
Till you put everything back together or u srs light will be on and u will need diagnostic to turn it off

Wow,
That's so good of you.
I'm going to give that a go. I can see the yellow teeth on the old one.
I will post the outcome. If I can't do it in the dark then probably will do it on Thursday am.
Thanks again!!!

....The part numbers were subtly different and the clips had a different locking mechanism.
Hi
I have also learnt a lot from that video.
In the light of that video, can you please throw some more light on the 'clips' you were referring to in the above post.
Thanks.

Thanks!!
Problem all fixed, just as you described.
Rotated sensor until yellow tooth appeared, refitted, drive around (+lock to lock), ESP warning went.
Thanks again!!

You need to make sure that the Steering Angle Sensor is "straight". I replaced one and it faulted. It was showing -360 degrees when the wheels were dead ahead. I had to take it off again, turn the top through a full turn and reassemble it. You really need a scanner like the iCarsoft to read the angle then confirm that it is correctly configured.

Thank you guys for the discussion and the video. I have the same problem after changing a stalk and spring. Now have ESP fault, will go back and redo it. :)
