I have a new c-class estate - 320cdi. Less than 2k miles. Love the engine to bits - but after some short local trips reversed the car into the drive area to clouds of blue/grey smoke which smelled acrid. No warning lights and local dealer said today they could not find a problem. Reversing back on my return home, no smoke but strong acrid smell again which I could detect in the cabin while still reversing as well as when I got out. Any ideas appreciated.

It,s a new car??
In the boot in the wheel wells under the carpet there are ventilation grills. If the exhaust is leaking the gas can come in through the vents, then through the boot into the cockpit.
I had a leak just behind the back box on the exhaust, the car stunk. Took a while to find the problem as the cars loudness wasn't really a noticable issue.
Worth a look??

Cheers
Adrian

Sorted

sorted in the end. Next day the whole engine died, mobilife recovery. It turned out to be a sensor in the engine which had been malfunctioning and then failed completely. Now flying again, lets hope this does not become a habit! Thanks for your ideas though, appreciated.
