I appreciate this isn't a direct comparison but I had the FK510's fitted to my Audi S4 which was quite firmly sprung and they were fine to the point that they will probably be high on the list when my SL350 needs new tyres. I can't vouch for wear as I only had the S4 for two months and I only do around 5,000 a year in my car. :)

I must try harder! :)
Indeed, you’ve a recent excuse though!
I’ve not concerned myself too much how noisy these tyres are (as Roger says they have an A rating), they can’t be worse than the P Zeros when half worn or the Winter Uniroyals which were a shock when I first pout them on! Rather that though than on my roof in a ditch...:p

Used to have a C63...
Am thinking more about one of the possible replacements for current car... generally excellent reviews but the odd comment here & there about road noise on OE Conti SC6.

Hmmm, now leaning more to Falken tyres, but also read that Kumho seem to be reasonable too.
These tyres might be good when new, what's their performance like after they have 5000mls on them?
Need to find a performance chart on used tyres

Just did a quick search and came across 'Part worn' and are they worth the risk?

Quote from one of the sites.

..................While we'd have liked to see a bigger sample set of tyres, the most important finding from this research is that 6 out of the 6 part worn tyres x-rayed had internal damage that could not be detected by normal inspections or seen by the naked eye. Call us old fashioned, but that's an excellent reason to be extremely cautious when buying part worn tyres....................

Now to me this means, if you buy a brand new set of tyres and drive on them for a week or more, they become part worn tyres and therefore you are at risk????

Food for thought o_O

No,no,no,no and no to part worns is my opinion!
If you drive on new tyres for a week, you will know what has been ‘done’ to them, can’t do that if someone else has worn them (driving over kerbs for example...)

Corsas I guess Peter unless Costa Coffee have started selling tyres (their an interesting business model hmmmm.....)- the offer is near Falken prices- really? They are normally super expensive:eek:

^ If they are anything like previous Pirelli's, they aren't the greatest for grip and whn part worn (3 -4mm) they are quite noisy.

Gosh, my eyesight that bad
My son's mate told me to try them on apro ;) if they work out they'll be 1/4 price, (they will be part worn's then :D) if they don't then I'll be going for the FK 510. Can't say too much more, only costing me the change and balance today.

Never used the Corsas to be fair Roger but I have to agree with you on the Pirelli’s I’ve experienced. My P Zeros have 4.1mm-4.9mm tread left and are just ‘in the zone’ but I know from previous when they drop below 4mm they will be thunderous and scrabbling for grip. Hence my original post....being prepared

To my amazement I discovered that the 500 and the 55 have Pirelli's on the front, I'd never taken any notice of the fronts. The 55 has P Zero Rossos

I have looked at another car I have and the tyres are make in Slovakia, these were on a Rover SD1 Vitesse
Think I might go and check all my tyres and see what I have fitted o_O
