Fault Code 2767 Component Y3/6N3 ( SPEED SENSOR3 ) is faulty

Hi,

Can someone please help? I have a fault code 2767 componentY3/6n3 speed sensor 3 on my 57 reg e 220 cdi . Do you know what this means and how much will it cost to get it fixed? Based in northampton.

The fault code you have posted means you need a new speed sensor in your gearbox. If you have a MB independent garage nearby, then £400 -£450 should cover it if you have the 5sp box. I believe the 7sp gearbox repair is more expensive. The price should include the part, fresh ATF and filter and labour. Make sure the tech clears the code before you take the car away.

What do the company say they are going to do for the quoted price?
If it's just a speed plate /ATF and filter, that is expensive IMO.

Get another quote, preferably from a MB indy . It's worth travelling to get a good indy to work on your car.

The speed plate (aka conductor plate) costs around £140, plus new fluid, filter and gasket takes the parts total to around £210 and approx 2 hours labour.

Not these days Malc. As I said before, I just had mine changed from Mercland and it was circa £400+VAT

I missed that, must have taken longer to post than I thought!

Anyway, yes there are cheaper, infact here is a genuine one for £160 (has gone up £20 due to exchange rate)

I was basing the pricing on an indie using genuine parts as I imagine most would for the plate. If it fails, at least they have somewhere to go back to

I bought my speed plate from the one stop gearbox shop on the internet for £116.00 plus postage not that long ago. Superb service. Halfords also do MB 235.14 ATF at £30 for a 5 litre bottle.

Sorry for not coming back earlier and Thank you all for your posts. The company said it is more than likely the valve rather than the speed plate. I also called another company, Lock H A, for a quote. If its the plate, I was told it will be around £200, plus the oil and filter, and a gasket for the pan, plus labour. I guess that will be around £450. Not sure how the other garage based in Kettering came back and said its the Valve. Car booked to go in week on Monday. Hopefully it wont go on limp mode before then.
