Ive fitted dozens.

Best ones are either Nextbase or blackvue.

Prices start at £140 fully fitted into the car, all wiring hidden.

I fitted a Nextbase to my E Coupe. The wiring easily slides behind the trim above the screen, then through the small gap at the top of the A pillar before going down the door frame under the rubber. I was lucky because my car has a second 12v socket in the glove box so I just went behind the side panel on the dash and plugged into that. I think later cars (mine is 2010) didn’t have the 12v socket so you then have to find another power source to connect into.

If you are anywhere near J3 of the M3 then Alfie and the guys at Comandonline will do an excellent job for you.

Mine came from Amazon and I bought a super long cable so once it has crossed the top of the window and gone down inside the pillar it can snake off an pick up power in the centre console as I don't have the nice take off in the glove compartment that many do.
The camera is virtually out of sight from the drivers side behind the mirror.

My BiL fitted one of these:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hid...8dc6-40fa-8549-b458cc53149b&priceBeautifyAB=0

in his 14 plate W212 E350. It is brilliant, especially when a dealer damages your car and attempts to deny it!!!:shock:

Wonder if Alfie and the boys had a look at it when they fitted his rearview camera a few weeks back.:rolleyes:

As it has a cowling that fits over the OEM overhead control panel it is extremely difficult to see from inside the car and very unnoticeable from the exterior.

I'm waiting for them to do one for my W166 GLE.

Hi

thats what i was looking at are they handy to fit is it just a matter of removing the other plastic cover and replacing it with this one and run the wiring to a power supply also did it fit as good as the removed cowl

What does the op mean by OEM dash cam?

Edit: just followed the above link, 1 of them I presume.

Looks a bit bulky, something like a blackvue would be less obvious I'd have thought.

I had, many years ago, asked MB why the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) camera built in to my then W221 didn't provide a feed to a recording device, it is after all just a lens that feeds into a 'black box of electrickery' that in turn sees speed limit signs, no entry signs and white lines amongst other things. The latest incarnations provide the 360degree views. Apparently various legislation in different countries surrounding recording images of people means MB won't provide 'dash cams' as original equipment.

The link I posted is for a unit my Brother in Law has in his W212 E350. His previous blackvue was visible and was clearly a dash cam stuck on the windscreen, this one is nowhere as visible. Will take images of it when visiting on sunday and post, as seeing is believing, rather than gauging non fitted images :shock:

Yes, this is the type that "integrates" into the existing mirror assembly, or rather around it,- I bought a similar one a while ago, as I really like the idea, but miscalculated the sensor gap. It was a generic type though - I can see now there are specific 245/169 models available, so perhaps something like this can be my next dashcam.

My BlackVue is certainly smaller, but more noticeable nonetheless, as keefysher said above.

Fits like a glove. There are options for the wiring to power supply you can ask for. BiL got the OBD port connection kit.
