My fogged up indicator with a new one over 2 years ago. It was a pig to refit, as the mirror cover had a rounded clip and kept slipping off. Eventually I had to apply a bead of hot glue to hold it in place (or buy a new cover).
The replacement has now misted up really badly. I was loath to change it again. I read somewhere on here ages ago about trying to dry it out.
I waited for some dry weather when I wasn't doing much driv ing. . Held a silica gel bag to the mirror housing with some elastic bands, covered the whole assembly with a transparent plastic bag and left it in the sun for 4 days.
Initially the condensation covered the whole of the unit. After 4 days, drying out the gel pack overnight the condensation has almost gone. Another day should do it. I didn't take a before shot, only some during, but it should give you an idea.
Sorry the pics insist on going in the middle of the text???
