I am looking for advice. I live in the country and have a had a problem with mice in the garage. They chewed through my glow plug cables and a few other things that have now been repaired.
My local garage said the glow plugs were not necessary in our climate and that to repair the plugs the top half of the engine would have to opened up.
Even in the cold we have had the car starts straight away with no hesitation so am I inclined to believe them that the glow plugs are not necessary. But even so I would like to have them repaired. I have attached a photo of the damage.

If it just the plugs connecting plug that has been munched then i am sure that there are few MB diesels in the scrap yard that could donate a plug connector with a wee bit of extra wiring attached , then you could just crimp or solder it onto your wiring and you will be good to go.

I'd be surprised if Merc didn't supply the plug & some loom as a repair section .... they seem to be on the ball with other repair looms for my Smart.

And to prevent it again try regularly spraying everything with WD40. Apparently mice hate the taste (cheers for the tip ajlsl600).
