I am with the AA too. They sent me a renewal quote from my original insurer, Allianz at £613.66 up from £215 the year before. Now that is the insurance company idiocy. There is no way that an intelligent customer is going to pay almost 3 times what they paid before.
But the AA included a lower quote of £291 with Zurich. This contrasted with £215 from LV using a couple of comparison sites. I renegotiated with the AA and they got the Zurich quote down to £239 which I am happy with as the conditions are slightly better than LV.
The only thing to do is negotiate every renewal. Doesn't the industry realise that the 'renwal industry' is a cost drain on their profits?
Then I was asked if I wanted to have automatic renewal or not. I opted in but can still change my mind next year.
