Hi All,

Have you had a problem that has been fixed by a forum post?

We would love to hear your stories of any problems you have experienced that may have baffled you, which has been resolved by a post on the forum, or by receiving great advice from another forum member.

Beccy :)

Yes, I think so.....

The BAS/ESP warning lights have been lighting up my SLK dash intermittently for a while. They'd disappear temporarily after a 'lock-to-lock' reset but eventually return with increasing frequency.

Anyway, the loss of cruise control was becoming a nuisance, to the point where I felt goaded into action. A simple search of the forum revealed this as a very common problem on many different models, with one simple possible solution being replacement of the brake light switch.

At roughly twelve quid a go, this seemed worth a try, so I did - and 'hey presto', it appears (touch wood) to have solved the problem! This particular solution has been posted so many times on the forum that the originator is probably lost in antiquity, but may I register my thanks to the body of contributors for all the helpful threads.

I have to say the switch accessibility on the SLK is not the easiest ( I'm getting too old for these 'on yer back under the dash' contortions) but after something of a struggle the swap was finally made. One problem I'm left with is how the deuce do you refit the under-dash cover panel? I managed to wrestle it off somehow, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it back. If anyone has any ideas, they'd be very welcome....

A quick search on here have solved the 2 minor issues I've had so far on the CLS.

Drivers window wouldn't rise back up after closing door. Found the window reset procedure, posted by who else but "Television"

Constantly misting glass lead me to a post by "Whitenemesis" saying to keep the A/C on all the time.

Both problems solved, here's hoping any other problems I may have are as simple and are as easily solved.

Misting up of the glass is more likely to be cause by the pollen filter needing changing, could also be a sign that water is leaking into the interior, so worth while checking the drain off points either side of the scuttle or wiper panel are clear of leaves or debris.

Fixing electrics problem ta v much

Forum searches led to my being able to suggest the right fuse to the non specialist who was probably about to dismantle the car. Fixed the problem of the wipers and indicators thinking for themselves!

Had lots of great help and advice from several members.. however my main thanks has to go to Malcolm aka Television.. he is simply brilliant especially when I had problems with the heating system on my 98 SL280
After 2 months of numerous cockups by Mercedes Stockport I posted for help and on Television's advice told the dealer to replace a £50 sensor that took an hour to install and I had the car back that same day.. brilliant.. the 2 months the car was with the dealer go a lot deeper and sinister.. but that's another story and in the past week have bought an AMG 6.3 CLS so looking forward to having TV helping me out again at some point

I am a recent new member having bought a w211 E270 in October and already I have had great help regarding a faulty alternator regulator, replaced under warranty and also a bouncing door lock. Several members have contributed including television. It's just a great place to be and I hope to be a contributor too in the future. Loving my Merc bye the way!

Yes, three times, updating firmware on my command, resetting the service indicator and where to find the glow plug relay. Really useful help almost instantly. I would like to give as well as take, but I'm a truck engineer. The forum is brilliant Television is a really big help. I really enjoy visiting.

Disconnecting the regen valve has fixed my W124's uneven idle.

Yes, forum was extremely helpful in identifying the booster point under the bonnet to allow me to release the boot mechanism on my 2001 CLK to get access to the battery and recharge it. Great forum.

Just wanted to say thanks for assistance i got with my central locking problem on my SL. A few folk contributed, most notably Malcolm, and helped me reach a fix.

Saved my ££'s and was much appreciated.

Thanks again, Dave
