I have been away for a while and have in the past been very grateful for the advice given by a number of members. A truly practical and friendly forum

Yes it's a great place to sit down and look through the varied and similar problems others have had or know about. Then again there are scary stories there also that may or may not cause even more stress.

When I tapped in my SBC problem I was glad I was sitting down when I read the cost of a replacement.

Parking break

Yes I only joined now but when I bought my car a few months ago the parking break would not unlock completely
and would say it was on although it wasn't. After reading here how to fix I took it to my local garage and told them what needed doing . They seemed cluless and to be honest very sceptical but true to what was said here was very easy to solve

This forum helped me bodge a fix for the open bonnet sensor switch on the CLK. It's now happily wedged in place.

Hi All,

Have you had a problem that has been fixed by a forum post?

We would love to hear your stories of any problems you have experienced that may have baffled you, which has been resolved by a post on the forum, or by receiving great advice from another forum member.

Look forward to hearing about your experiences.

Beccy :)

My first post on here about my car alarm having a mind of its own led to some good advice on what the problem was ( leaking battery in siren ) and even a guide on how to access the siren to change it myself. Worth the membership fee on its own.

This forum, and the others, have helped me fix dozens of issues and given me the knowledge to speak to the garage with some authority when I don't have the wherewithal to fix the problems myself. The forums have also helped me gain a much better understanding of my cars.

I've had a few issues fixed and a few excellent tips from on here. Malcolm (television) in particular has been very helpful in providing technical knowledge and pointers in the right direction.

Many small niggles & fault finding.

Keyfob lack of range was diagnosed as OHCP failure- replaced this part and now that works well.
Driver's seat back wobbling- knackered lock requiring full seat replacement.

Part numbers have been dug out for me for the following:

Foglamp lens
Accelerator pedal assy
Door mirror gaskets
Fr door window seal/ weatherstrip ("Outside Attachment")
MAF sensor (not actually required but still was a help)

In short, a whole load of advice, hints & tips that have helped me to do much more to the car than I would have otherwise thought of.

Whoever suggested using RainX on the glass, THANK YOU- this is a superb product and I can easily see the difference between the 2 cars that have it on and the one that doesn't!

Reload this Page V6 CDI Inlet Port Shut Off Motor Replacement

M80 wrote a thread as per above title and it must qualify as one of the best and most helpful posts ever, it gave me the confidence to completely strip the top of my V6 diesel and replace a stepper motor for £50, the car had previously been written off by the owner because Merc dealer had quoted £5,000 to replace exhaust manifolds, turbo & activator and cats based on a diagnosis that the manifolds had broken up inside, in my eyes M80 is a god regards steve
