I would like to have a manual that covers the majority of basics for our 2007 CLK 220CDI. Can't find one online and Haynes don't cover the CLK as far as I can see. Would the Haynes that covers a similar age E-class or C-class be the nearest for engine, transmission, axle, suspension brakes etc?

A warranty is always good... I will open it carefully.

Bit of drift... so the C-class Haynes is the closest book... but I thought the CLK was a sort of coupe version of the E-class... so why does it have C-class underpinnings?

Yep - that C Class manual is the nearest. The similarities make the book worthwhile - if you like Haynes manuals, that is.

I also have the Haynes American version, which is a paperback edition, but the photos in the American one are far superior to the normal hardback edition.

As they say - Not many people know that!

I have that manual off the bay, paperback for about £11. Pictures aren't great, but I've found it useful so far. If anyone knows of anything better I'd like to know.

>>>I had always thought it was a coupe version of the C class :D

When we were first looking for our car with C-class saloon/coupe and CLK in mind I was a bit confused where the CLK sat in the range. Our impression looking at them was the CLK always seemed much larger often with a bit more luxury than the C-class coupe. I've just had to look it up to see that the CLK seems to be on the C-class floorpan but a foot longer in the body.

I also noticed back when ours was sold in 2007 Mercedes charged between £7000 & £18000 more for a CLK than a C-class so they obviously convinced the new buyers there was a difference.

C class platform, some parts commonality with E-class though. More spec commonality with E than C hence it being more closely aligned cost wise with the E.

Cheers Craig... makes sense.

Got the Haynes manual now... first one I've had with the paperback style covers... yuk.

Still it looks to cover the basics and most of the stuff I wanted to check out on the CLK.
