Hi all

I have bought my first merc couple of months back and I am just loving every moment of it, my model is C220 CDI, 2003 plate and my mate has got a similar car but 2004 model however I really like his head and fog lights.

My lights are similar to the one in picture 1 below

http://uploads.autonet.ie/nissan/65813-03G4190_2.JPG

and his lights are similar to the one in picture 2 below.

Could you please advise if I can get my headlamp and fog lights replaced to the one in picture 2 if so is it a straight swop, and can I local garage easily do without messing the sensors etc?

Also does anyone knows the part number from the lights I need to buy in the second photo?

Many thanks for your advice in advance.

Salman

im not that sure if the lights themselves are different. yours may have ordinary lights for ordinary bulbs. the clear lense variety like your friend has are probably xenon or bi-xenon headlights which require resistors etc if i remember correctly

the fog lights, looking at the pics, appear to be clear lensed too, and possibly a slightly different shape. the biggest difference between the 2 pics in that respect is the front bumper which, if the foglights are a different shape, will need to be changed too. personally, id just live with yours how it is as the expense to change bumpers etc would probably outweigh any gains in appearance. and most people wouldnt know the difference anyhow!

I think that it would be getting on for £1k to change them to the face lift car, or much more if they are Xenon

Do you know the part number for the headlamps please? I might try my luck on ebay if the headlamps are straight swop then I would go for them, not really keen on Xeon lights, I just like the clear lens! and if changing fog lights involve bumper replacement then I would stick to the current foglights.

You can fit the updated fog lamps no problem,,I have seen it being done,,the bumper has to come off to change the lights and I can give you that info, so change them to the ones on Ebay etc

i wasnt sure if they were the same shape or not Malcolm, hence why i mentioned a bumper change. i know ive removed mine just by taking the cover off under the engine between the radiator and the bumper. not sure how they fit on a 203. ive never really looked! i must start paying more attention to these things!

Mine were face-lift clear lens halogen being changed to bi-xenons.

Was the OP asking about swapping to xenons

My post was the simple halogen - halogen swap
