I need to replace the headlight/mirror switch panel on her indoors 2004 C 220 CDI estate. The folding mirrors are in rebellion and I am told it is the switch. Is this easy to remove and what should I use to do this please?
Before changing the switch, check inside the wing mirror for broken wiring at the point the mirrors fold back.
Its a well known fault with folding mirrors.
Just been shown the procedure for removal which may assist any of you who need to do this.
The key thing is to remove the hex screw which is situated up behind the hand brake lever. Then take out the dashboard side panel and press on the retaining clip and out it comes. Appears there has been a lot of instances where no-one was aware of the little screw and damaged the surrounding panels. Also advised to check the connections for corrosion as it's an area that can get a touch of damp.
