Common problem in these cars I believe, but the heated drivers seat in my SL does not heat up the seat pad, only the back.

I believe the heater element will be knackered and it is in the seat pad (which I presume means the leather you sit on).

If so what is the likely cost of replacement including labour or can I do it myself if I buy the part?

It wouldn't bother me, but the drivers seat pad is also a bit 'sat on' looking (there's a surprise seeing as it's sat on ) so it would kind of kill two birds with one stone.

Thought I would jump this post as I have the same issue with mine, checked all the fuses and these were fine.
Would it be more likely to be the heating elements that have failed or is there another source to look for.
The drivers seat is not working at all. The passenger seat back rest heats up but not the bottom seat.
Would Star diagnose any seat heating issues?

Many thanks Peter

Star will diagnose it I think - it has the ability to operate the element independent of the sensors and switches.

Replacing the element is hard to say if it's DIY - depends on your skills.
Here are the instructions for seat base and back removals.

Thank you Alistair.

If the pads are at fault, news ones I guess, any idea on the value?
