Hello from Mercedes Newbie

Hello all,

I'm Dan from the West Midlands and I've recently purchased a 2005 CLS 320 CDI.

I have a few plans for the car cosmetically but before I do anything superficial I want to make sure the car is mechanically sound.

It has a few issues that need sorting and whilst I'm a fairly capable DIY mechanic, Mercedes seem to have their little quirks that come across alien if your not familiar with the brand and I'm totally green in that respect.

All in all I'm looking forward to enjoying the marque, gaining some knowledge and making new friends.

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps.

JBell I'm really impressed with the V6 diesel. It really seems to suit the car and gearbox well though I'm having a few probs at the moment with it.

You are fortunate living close to a great outfit to look after your CLS.

Check out MSL Performance in Sparkhill Birmingham. The whole outfit is tip top and I've travelled 170 miles from Bournemouth to see them.

I have read good things about MSL Performance and for you to have travelled so far speaks volumes.

The previous owner used another fairly well known Birmingham based Mercedes specialist but I have noticed a few things I'm not happy with to be honest so was looking to change.

I will give them a shout as I have some issues that I need looking at.
