Where are you located Leonard? That is a lot of ££ to spend and its still not working.

Maybe someone can point you to a Mercedes specialist nearby who has MB specific diagnostic equipment to find your problem.
The garage you are with obviously have no idea.

Hit the nail on the head there AMgeed.. Garages that want to empty your wallet without having rectified the problem are the lowest of the low, I have seen this so many times before, now they have replaced the fuel pump they will probably tell you that you need to replace all your injectors  . Get your car out of there and take it to someone who actually wants to fix your car.

Leonard,
Welcome to the forum firstly.
Secondly something very wrong with your garage. They are clearly taking advantage here. 600'pounds isn't loose change and not rectified the issue is cause for concern.
I would be looking at getting the money back from the garage as they clearly do not have any idea what they are doing. Even to the extent of getting trading standards involved.

I hope somone comes along soon and provides you with a recommendation for an independent Mercedes garage in your area. This is a garage that specialises in Mercedes maintenace and is not an official dealership. Such a garage should have Mercedes diagnostic computers (STAR) and will be able to locate the problem very fast and rectify.

Perhaps a Google search will help locate one for you.
