With you fitting that wire with 12 volts on it , to the pump . And in doing this you are bypassing vital ignition components . Fuel pump are suspect on that model ..
If fuel is returning i would think fuel regulator to be good one . You know the flap on the fuel distributor is it flush with the tuel distributor , or is it down or low , on the one side ?.
You do have the K jet injection. Fuel pump only runs a few seconds if that .After switching on the relay is grounded from the ECU .It enables the pump to run ,after you have switched it on .
I would look in to a new fuel pump relay first . Or remove it and clean the contacts .Funny though you have fuel and spark but no start .
Does this year even have an ecu, I’ve looked everywhere had the car to bits & I don’t think it has one. I took a delightful trip to the SL shop today in Stratford apon Avon. Beautiful cars there they gave us some pointers but yet to no avail. I think it’s Time for eBay
All 8 injectors aren't going to have failed/gunked up at the same time.
Yes it has an ecu of sorts. But as fuel is your issue, is the pump definitely running whilst you're cranking? If it is, what is the measured fuel pressure?
I’m going to invest in a pressure test tomorrow, there’s a good flow of fuel going to the k jet it’s just out to the injectors that’s poor. I’ve also noticed that the dash lights are not working. I have no battery light or anything on the cluster. I thought owning classic cars was fun. I’ve never had any issues with my 87 E28 or my 93 E32
So finally I found the source of my issue, fuel accumulator located by the fuel pump. When back to basics like advised, fuel pump was only putting out 3bar or pressure, gave the accumulater a good old whack with a hammer and the pressure suddenly shot up. Finally fuel from the injectors!! Anyone point me in the right direction for a new/used one? SL shop are great but rather expensive!
On newer models they have a filter just were the fuel feed pipe enters the fuel distributor . If it has one check it for blockage because all the rubbish that moves down line with the fuel will close it up .And this will starve the fuel injecters. If accumulator was blocked and now its clear the obstruction is down line now.
