Smart + others :)
A customer of mine had the incorrect chassis number on his CL, it took ages and lots of head banging before mercedes admitted they had got it wrong and rectified it. I'm not certain of the ins and outs of it but it was sorted. I can contact them to find out more if you like.

Thanks for a very interesting and enlightning response.
I have spoken to MB main head office.
They have told me that it is a CL500/CL55 AMG.It was initially ordered as a CL500 but with the 030 code AMG package back in Kuwait. As it was just prior to the official release of the CL55AMG later in 2000.
I have also had a diagnosis on the car and it came up as CL500/CL55.
So i have an early CL55AMG.

So sorry for the scare,,we have all learnt so much and we know what to look out for in the future,,so thank you for that :D:D

Though I run the SL that car of yours will always be my next dream,,like mine yours is loaded with every thing,,you will have to convert the TV with a a digi box.

S class
Still you could go back to the dealer you bought it from and voice your concerns, you may get a free service out of it..

I had already thanked you for the break point in this long thread,,you spotting the engine number saved the day.

Even a dishy female joining could not beat this thread though,,the last one got somewhere near,,but this is a record

How do i convert my analog TV to digital?

I have spoken to the person i bought the car from and he is sending me the HPI check that he thought he gave me.
He has spoken to the previous owner too as he was also a little concerned (ref to my initial question i raised).

There are a few post here on how to do that,, basically you use a cheap digi box that you would use in the house that cost £32 you use it with a remote control, I have done it.

I must do a DIY for this when the sun comes out

Unfortunately there is no option to replace with, or convert the existing analogue TV receiver to, a digital one.

Mercedes-Benz' own, £1,000+, solution is essentialy the same as the one Malcolm describes, plugging a digital unit into the auxilliary input of the existing TV and controlling it via a remote control, not COMAND.
