Nah the C is the entry model in my eyes. Don’t class those shitty A and B classes as proper Mercedes. Anything front wheel drive needs to be abolished, irregardless of the market. Mercedes have dropped from being a prestige car to own to the common person’s hatchback supplier. Same goes for the CLA and all those spin-offs.

If anything the E class has been ruined. The facelift of the 212 was the start of the downfall, where the masculine lines were removed, to the 213 where now you look at it and wonder if it’s a C class or what. The new design language is horrible. They all look the same, and that is not a good thing.

They have looked the same for years but the design of panels suit the C Class better than any other......in E Class too slab sided looking... just like the old Volvo`s are dated!

I love my C Class pocket rocket ...probably cheaper than an E Class as it is smaller and model for model will out accelerate any E class by half a second to 60mph.

There is NO petrol revolution or any DEMISE in diesel it is peoples minds that it is all happening in, mainly in Government.
They want your money and most of us like sheep follow what they want......total hysteria.

Diesel will sell well forever as by the time 2040 comes there will be different MP`s with different mind sets and those of us still around will be using a different fuel in our diesel engine....

I’m not sure there’s no demise in diesel, never mind the reasoning behind it, I think there’s a drive against it. Where I live there’s an emission charge coming next year, requires Euro 4 petrol or Euro 6 diesel to enter city centre. I could work around it but regardless I think non E6 diesels are going to drop in value. I do around 10k miles/yr now, mix of all sorts, given all of that, I’m not sure investing in diesel makes sense for me, but happy to be convinced otherwise!

They have looked the same for years? Please tell me what you are on so I can go buy some.

W204 and W212 look similar do they? Nowhere near no matter which aspect you look at. Parts are clearly different, and distinctively different to the point where you can tell them apart. Look at the new C and E from behind and you will have a hard time. The E class interior is miles ahead of the C as well.

Is it just me, or is the OP not getting much help on the desirability of the C200 and C250 petrol cars that he was asking about? Plenty of these listed on Autotrader...

I’ve previously had the C180K which was 165 Bhp which was fine but the engine worried me greatly!
The Op is stepping out of a quite powerful 330d so that is quite difficult to follow with a 4cyl C200 or C250
C350 is the only choice IMO unless he wants to adjust to the power and smoothness lack purely for economy

Tried the C200 AMG Line today, wasn’t convinced it was worth partying with £18k for it. It didn’t feel that special which surprised me for some reason. The MB dealer told me that whilst before they were specking new cars for customers at the rate of 90:10 in favour of diesel, now it’s 50:50.
