Hello. Just introduced myself last week and after 50 years of driving I've bought my first Merc. 51 reg C240 auto avantgarde silver/grey leather Sat/Nav 66000 miles full MB/mixed history. Couple of things need sorting so all your input will be helpful. Main thing is the only key won't remotely open/shut the doors. Batteries are tested and full charge and I put a new set in, tested, and all I get is the red indicator light on the fob flashes momentarily. Using the lock button on the dash secures it and I have to open it with the key. I'm going now and will return 4.30pm tomorrow and I'm sure your response will amaze me. Thank you. Jim

Mmmm Nothing yet. Just to add a little more info. The door buttons all go down flush when using the lock button on the dash except the drivers door where the button stays a little proud. Could it be the key or door lock mechanism.

More info. When using the dash locking switch all the door buttons go down flush except the drivers door but it does lock and I have to use the key to open the drivers door. It wont manually push down flush or pull up but the door is locked. Any help gratefully received. Thx

You have Turbopete who is in Spennymoor and C350Carl who is in Hatt... er Catterick, if you need direct advice, both highly knowledgable.

Without seeing your problem directly its hard to know if it is the keyfob or the locking ECU that is at fault, I would suggest in the first instance to go to an independent MB garage and have it diagnosed. Use the search function "Find a Mercedes Specialist" on the Owners Forum link top left.

Thanks for the info. I've been in touch with an Indie, very helpful and , again, a very helpful mobile key cutter/re-programmer so will keep you posted on the outcome. Jim
