I understand that - I saw it.

What I am saying is I don't think that should be the case.

I may be wrong

I think I know where the problem is but I wouldn't want to offend you again.

OK, I'll try again...

Mr Angry Meabon, you posted a photo of the distributor cap but the base was also in the photo post number 28 on the thread.
http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=133317&page=3

The base part of the distributor (not the cap as you've changed that) is crudded up at the bottom and is likely to be tracking to earth. The two crudded areas are at position #3 and #6 so my guess is theres tracking to earth here causing loss of HT to the plugs.

I've cropped and enlarged the photo

Clean it up with WD on steel wool, don't use water.
Let us know if it worked.

ive taken off the base cap that the rotor cap goes on took of rotor and the mount that holds rotor arm cleaned it very well and brissle brushed till it was almost new looking basically taken off a few layers but there is a rubber seal that seemingly water couldnt get through i still tryd to get it off but it seems as i would damage it maybe bearings im guessing is whats behind it idk maybe i should try taking that off with some wd40 ill have to pick some up or maybe u can inlightn me about whats beyond that point cuz maybe i dont have to take that off since its seald off and it wouldnt matter for spark earthing out cuz its under the base cap and is hidin from ruining the spark idk i could be wrong

Ive not bothered to read this properly as I couldnt follow the text without having to stretch my eye balls.

But if it was my car I would buy a new dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads and plugs from Mercedes and then she how she runs from there.

In which case and with all respect to the OP, I'd get someone who knows what they are doing to fix it.

I very much doubt it is a complicated problem and if someone can actually get hands on as opposed to trying to interpret difficult posts, I imagine the problem will be fixed quite quickly.

I am now out of this thread.

So without me having to read everything (cant be bothered) have you replaced as I mentioned before all the parts?

That rotor arm if thats what your still using is way past its best and needs to be replaced. Ignition parts as mentioned need to be purchased from Mercedes as other parts from other manufactures can sometimes be of poor quality.

Huntingdon is that Cambs??

Can I be confused ?
The rotor arm does not look new to me or even clean .
I assume water has somehow been forced down inside the distributor too.

It is very frustrating I understand, but I think most of us are just trying to get the dam thing going.

I think as you call it your rotor roller or as we call it here the rotor arm ! is shagged, knackered, kaput, Fu$%ed and needs to be replaced.

Then I think you might find your problem goes away.

Booked my flight see you tomorrow,!!
