Help on how to hard wire a nextbase dashcam

I want to hardware my dashcam into my 07 Slk280, was hoping to piggyback off a fuse in the dashboard but can't find a fuse that has no power once the car key is taken out ? Am I missing something or will I have to wire it to either the engine bay fuse box or the boot fuse box ( was hoping for a nice easy fix into the dashboard) ...

The cigarette lighter should only be powered with ignition on, if you have one.

I was lucky as the C207 has a second 12v socket in the glove box and I just used that for my Nextbase. I know others on this forum have tapped into the glove box light electrics.

I do but it's in the fuse box Under the bonnet and was hoping not to have to run the wires that far

Found a local auto electronics company that will fit it for £25 , so for that price I think I'll let them do it. Thanks for all the advice

Tony, similarly my garage, a Mercedes specialist, has fitted a socket under the dash cover. I have SatNav and Dash Cam both connected that way. Only downside will be getting them to recover the Satnav cable when I dispose of the car though a new Garmin cable might be cheaper.

I do have the Mercedes SatNav too but the Garmin is better, I can talk to it and it to me, get regular updates, and have speedcam alerts. And chose which route either offers Or the wife's!
