Hi to all you great guys on the these MB forums. Hope you are all well and happy.

It's a long time since I posted anything as i suffered a TIA and it sapped interest.

However, I decided to cheer myself up and bought a 6 month old W213 E Class 220d.

I know it was extravagant and many would say a waste of money but at 76 I couldn't care less.

I was wondering if someone would be kind enough help me with the VIN decode thing.

The VIN is WDD2130042A048656

The manual covers all variants and it is difficult to decide which equipment should be on the car.

The car drives like a dream. It is very comfortable but first impressions also lead me to the opinion that there is a lot of electronic junk which makes the car more difficult to use and is a hindrance rather than a help.

No CD/DVD player. Garmin Map Pilot not as good as Comand system I had on W212, more difficult and less convenient to enter destinations, telephone numbers and radio stations. No spare wheel but a ridiculous tyre repair system.

Overall I'm beginning to regret the purchase after a couple of days of ownership

That's more than enough moaning. Guys please enjoy your mercs. I'm just an old f - - - - who needs to move with the times. Or am I ???????

Kindest regards

MINKYMERC

Welcome back after the absence, always nice to hear from folks after a while. PDF attached below for you.
I hear what you're saying on technology, keyless go has been the subject of a lengthy thread on here over the past few days....
How's the 9G box compared to the 7G you had in the 212?

Hello John,

Thank you for the pdf. Very useful and informative.

First impressions are that the 9g box is so smooth that in C mode the changes are imperceptible tootling round the town. However that is not a fair assessment as the car rarely gets up to D6. I will know more when I take it on the motorway.

The engine is almost inaudible on start up and the ride is extremely smooth and comfortable. A big leap forward from the 7G.

If you engage Sport+ mode you can then hear the engine speed up and it sounds busier and more powerful but not yet had a chance to use it. Early days with, I hope, no nasty surprises. Sorry I can't be more help at this stage.

Hi AMGeed,

Thanks for that advice. I have, indeed, been able to download the full datacard.

I am very grateful for all the help from you guys.
