How many miles car done ? I ask because the fuel filter needs changing at fairly frequent intervals and if partially blocked will reduce fuel flow at wide open throttle and hold you back.

It is under the cover just in front of rear wheel. Has it been changed in your possession ?

Smart + others :)
It might need initializing, or "boot strapping" where the throtle and mixture settings are reset?

Should be ok as a straight fit. Disconnect the battery first though just to be sure and make sure the keys are in your pocket and not the ignition.

A common fault for high idle is the idle change over switch built into the air flow sensor.
The switch levers wear so the it does not close, you can file the levers so the switch does close.

This can be checked with an ohm meter in the socket on the airflow sensor

any pics or diagrams?? im not very good at this type of thing.
could my hesitancy problem be because the throttle is sticking and not opening fully?

I have not got pics as it is not supposed to be repaired, yes the airflow plate can get sticky with the gluey substance, alway worth undoing the screws and cleaning it all
