i have just restored a 1999 ML 320 for my wife as her Christmas present, but I have an issue with a engine judder at about 40000 RPM ? It starts on the button every time and runs really smooth but increase the revs with no load to about 40000 RPM and we get the judder ? Could this be electrical or fuel , any help appreciated

Wow... I'm amazed it doesn't self destruct before it gets to 40,000rpm! :)

Mercedes engines are designed not to rev in neutral. The ECU will limit rpm unless in gear.

Lol, As above a limit of 4k is the maximum in neutral for the engine. There is nothing wrong.

Yup. Don’t rev past 2k in Park or neutral!

Hi Kevan, welcome to the forum, not that I ever try to rev the car in neutral but we all live and learn.
